E is for Eventually, Ever, and Expecting

Welcome to Stranded!, my Strand Magazine-based April A to Z Blogging Challenge!  In this challenge, I will be taking illustrations from The Strand Magazine and making new stories out of them.  So, in order to fully appreciate the Stirring Events eventuating here, a look back at my older A TO Z entries is advisable.  I promise you, they are short.  Click Here to start with my Theme Reveal, or Click Here to start with A!  It is also totally acceptable to just look at today’s post.

The first image is from The Strand Magazine, No. 57; the second is from No. 14.  I fear I have lost track of the source of the third, but if/when I come across it again, I will update this.

Oh, yes!  Also?  Note that I now have a list of A To Z Fictioneers in my sidebar.  It is, so far, a short list, but I will gladly add YOU, if you are writing fiction for the April A To Z Blogging Challenge this year.  Just let me know that you want me to add you, and it will happen!

  1. After I left you my list of 11 Cabal members, I was given another: * Joe’s excerpts from his upcoming post-Civil War historical fiction, “Steel Horse Saviors”, at Fiction Playground at https://fictionplayground.wordpress.com/2017/04/01/angus-ogrady-steel-horse-saviors-2017-a-to-z-challenge-day-1/

I have visited each of the Fictioneer’s A to Z posts, and verified their fictional nature. I thought it would be helpful to provide a brief description of each genre. If my copy and paste didn’t transfer the links, let me know and I’ll provide them to you.

Hello! Yes, it looks like the links didn’t survive the copy and paste–could you give them to me? Thanks!

    • Melanie Atherton Allen

Wait! Don’t bother to provide me with any links! I have found where they are listed on your blog, and can take it from there!

  2. Interesting series till now! Just read A to E at one go.. Love the idea of taking pictures from Strand magazine and creating a thrilling series.

Hello Namratha, and welcome to Atherton’s Magic Vapour! Thanks– I am glad you like it so far! I will return your visit soon!

    • I’ve been progressing through “F” on your previous A to Z’s, and noticed you’d updated the list in the meantime. Glad that worked out. I guess I pay attention to which source I grab the copy from.

Honestly, I have so much fun reading everything you write, it’s tempting to forgo everything else to binge read your entire site. Alas, my income would fade to a shadow of its diminutive self, and everyone else’s posts would drown, neglected, in my Reader stream.

  3. What a clever idea, using the challenge to write fiction! I opted to include facts related to my writing (I do historical fiction), but this is a thought to file away for later times.

    Nicely done!

Hello, and welcome to Atherton’s Magic Vapour! I am excited about your blog (I love historical fiction– well, some of it…), and will visit shortly.

  4. Last year I followed your story and it was brilliant, this year is no different. Love the theme and how you present your stories

    • Melanie Atherton Allen

Thanks! I remember you from last year! Welcome back! I am pleased you like my theme this year, too! Your A To Z is good, too (though I fear I blush rather easily)!

  5. Whatever mystery is in this story, I’m sure Alfie will solve it. He has such a bright mind 😉

Thanks Jazzfeathers! I sure hope he works it out! I know what I want to happen with him eventually, but that might change, if I can’t find the right images to support the story I plan to tell. We shall see…

  6. Bizarre with the screaming and nobody caring. But, then, what can one expect from dreaded Dog-ladies? 😉
